Grandma’s Birthday Scarf

I am always late with my grandma’s birthday present. Her birthday certainly does not move around, but every single year I end up in the same situation. I had great plans this year, too, but realized at some point that I was not going to make it. You really cannot knit a big lace shawl in two nights, especially when your knitting time starts around 9 pm when the son goes to bed.

Branching out

Hädissäni kaivoin lankakasaa ja SNY:n lähettämät soijalangat alkoivat kuiskia. Niistä tein mummulle Branching Outin.

I was going through my stash in a desperate attempt to find something quick to knit. The soy yarn gifted to me by my Finnish secret pal was whispering to me and so my grandma got herself a Branching Out.

Mummun seuraavaan syntymäpäivään voisi sitten kohta ruveta valmistautumaan, vai mitä?

Better get started on her next birthday present soon, don’t you think?

SP12 Question of the week:

As a kid, what did you look forward to most about summer vacation/break/holiday?

When I was a kid, we lived quite far away from my grandparents so I did not get to see them that often. When the summer vacation started, my parents packed me and my sister in the car and drove us to my grandparents house. I loved it at my grandparents, my grandma spoiled me rotten. I hated leaving, and looked forward to the next summer vacation all winter long.

Vitsit kun joku osaisi hävittää nuhakuumeen tästä maailmasta. Tiedän, on paljon vakavampiakin tauteja, mutta taas nuha veti minut useammaksi päiväksi sänkypotilaaksi ja mittumaari meni sitten siinä sivussa. Tänään pääsin jo taudin inhottavimpaan vaiheeseen eli jatkuvaan nenäverenvuotoon, eli eiköhän se kohta ala helpottaa.

Somebody please find a way to eradicate the common cold. Yes, there are more serious diseases in the world and I am not dying, but the past week has certainly felt like it. I even missed out on all the Midsummer celebrations on Friday and Saturday. I have now entered the nastiest phase of the cold: constant nosebleeds. The silver lining? It can only get better.

  1. That yarn is beautiful and I bet even though it’s late, your grandma is still very blessed by her granddaughter’s love for her!
I’m sorry you’re sick, hope you are well soon.
Still loving the look of your new blog!

  2. Love the scarf and I’m sure that your Grandma will too.

    Common cold?

Look up “Neti Pot”…sounds gross but it works. Great for allergies too.
